Antique Victorian c. 1850 Domed Burr Walnut Tea Caddy
A beautifully proportioned Victorian tea caddy dating to around 1850, crafted in richly figured burr walnut and finished with a graceful domed lid. The caddy retains its original fitted interior with two lids dividing two compartments—ideal for storing loose teas as originally intended. A period key is present though it does not operate the lock.
Condition
Good condition for its age with expected surface marks and light scratches consistent with use and period.
Small chips to the veneer on the bottom edges (please see photos).
Interior shows age-appropriate wear but remains sound and functional.
Key present but not working.
Dimensions (approx.)
Length: 8.2 in (20.8 cm)
Depth: 4.5 in (11.4 cm)
Height: 4.7 in (11.9 cm)
Remarks A refined example of mid-19th century English cabinetry, the rich burr walnut grain and domed silhouette make this tea caddy an elegant display piece as well as a practical antique. Suitable for collectors or as a decorative accent in a period or contemporary interior.
