A fabulous antique decorative storage chest would of been used for fire wood or coal but could be used for anything.
Date - very tricky to date this it could be Georgian but is most likely Victorian in period.
Rectangular in shaped covered in brass coloured metal depicting a village scene on the front. Ornate scrollwork on the top and sides also featuring birds of paradise.
Inside has two carry handles and stands on four bun type feet.
The condition is very good for its age. It does show a lot of wear and aged patina to the metal. It has also oxidised in places. I have cleaned it as it was filthy and it has come up wonderfully. However i have tried not to over clean but you may want to polish it further. There has been evidence of old worm to a couple of the feet, but has been treated as a precaution.
