Antique 17th Century Carved Oak Coffer Storage Chest

Fantastic example of an 17th century oak coffer chest.

Date Circa 1640s.

This is a true piece of history and a great conversational piece. The stories it could tell.

Made from solid dark oak wood with heavy carving to the front and carving to the edges.

Stands on small legs.

Wonderful patina to the Oak.

The original lock is still in place unfortunately missing the key.

The lid lifts up to a large storage space.

Considering this around 400 years old its in good strong, sturdy and useable condition. There are so issues to mention.

  1. Historic woodworm holes to the legs which are also split and worn.

  2. Two large cracks to the wood front and back.

  3. wear to the edges.

  4. Historic split repairs to the lid.

  5. Splits to the wood base.

  6. one of the base panels is a little loose.

  7. wear to the lock and original hinges.
