Vintage original 1930s black wool coat with Persian lamb trim. Large ruffled collar and dramatic mutton (leg-of-mutton) sleeves create a quintessential 1930s silhouette. Single front button fastener. Fully lined.
Condition
Sold as-is. The coat has had a few careful repairs to the appliqué details; these are visible on close inspection but sympathetically done.
Black wool shows brownish flecks throughout the weave—an authentic period characteristic that adds depth to the fabric.
Silk lining has a small tear and some wear consistent with age; coat remains fully wearable.
Measurements (laid flat)
Shoulders (seam to seam ) 14”
Bust/Chest (pit to pit): approximately 38”
Sleeve length (from shoulder seam to cuff): 26”
Back length (nape to hem): 48”
Waist 34”
This is a small fitting coat due to the shoulder measurement. It would have originally been worn oversized and I think would best suit a size 10 UK or smaller.
Notes
A striking example of 1930s tailoring and evening outerwear styling—ideal for vintage collectors, costume use, or as a distinctive wardrobe piece.
Because of its age and repaired elements, this coat is sold as a vintage garment and may benefit from gentle professional cleaning and minor conservation if desired.
