Huge Antique Dutch 18th Century Brass Wall Charger Of Noble Gentleman
Antique Dutch 18th‑Century Brass Wall Charger — Impressive, Very Large
Description
Spectacular, oversized wall charger dating from the 18th century, Dutch in origin.
Cast and chased brass, richly detailed.
Central figural medallion depicts a noble gentleman; surrounding border features heraldic coat of arms and detailed fruit and foliate ornament.
Hanging ring on the reverse for wall display.
Attractive, even patina with surface wear consistent with age; overall good antique condition.
Condition notes
General surface wear, small dents and scratches consistent with age and use.
Some damage and small repair splits to the metal, most notably on the gentleman’s face and torso (visible on close inspection). These do not obscure the overall composition but are part of the piece’s authentic history.
No active corrosion; stable for display.
Dimensions
Diameter: 96 cm (approximately 3 ft 2 in)
Depth (projection from wall): 0.5 cm — charger stands proud when hung
Why this piece is special
Rare scale: chargers of this size and quality are uncommon and make a dramatic focal point.
Fine Dutch 18th‑century workmanship with strong figural and heraldic motifs — ideal for a period interior or as a striking, historic accent in a contemporary setting.
Care & display
Best displayed indoors, away from extreme humidity or direct heat.
Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes that will remove original patina.
Can be hung from the existing ring; ensure a secure wall fixing rated for the weight and size of the piece.
