Antique 18th Century Georgian Dark Oak Coffer Storage Chest Panel Front With Carving
Antique 18th‑Century Oak Coffer Storage Chest
An elegant 18th‑century oak coffer, finished in a dark, rich patina that highlights the grain and age of the timber. The panelled front is complemented by decorative carving, showing period detail and skilled workmanship. The plank top displays historic character: old hinges and original iron fittings remain intact, with expected wear and historic knocks and small chunks missing from the lid edge. There is an historic repair — a later piece of wood has been sympathetically added to the top near one hinge — and some surface discoloration to the wood in places, all of which contribute to the chest’s authenticity and provenance rather than detract from its appeal.
Good antique condition overall. The structure is sound and stable, suitable for use as storage or as a low bench or coffee table. Measurements:
Length: 113 cm
Height: 63 cm
Depth: 47 cm
A handsome example of functional 18th‑century oak furniture with honest period wear and attractive aged presence.
