Victorian 19th-century mahogany writing slope. Fold-out slope lined in the original red leather, complete with compartments and a pen slide. Fitted with a brass escutcheon and decorative cartouche. The piece displays a wonderful aged patina and rich color; surface shows lots of marks and knocks consistent with use and age, and the leather lining has visible wear. Missing the original key and the glass inkwells.

A characterful example of Victorian craftsmanship—handsome on a desk or bookshelf, and ideal for restoration or as a decorative statement where authentic antique wear is appreciated.
